Once upon a time, a tiny seed fell from a tree and landed on the cold ground.
All winter, it lay under the snow, waiting. It was afraid it would never grow.
When spring came, the rain fell and the sun warmed the earth.
Slowly, a small green shoot pushed through the soil.
A hungry snail tried to eat it, but a bird scared the snail away.
Day by day, the little plant grew taller and stronger.
Years passed, and the seed became a huge tree.
Birds built their nests in its branches, and children played in its shade.
One autumn, the tree dropped thousands of seeds of its own.
"Don't be afraid," it whispered to them. "Every big tree started as a little seed."
